2022 Field Day

June 25 @ 8:00 am - June 26 @ 2:00 pm EDT

Field Day is this Saturday and Sunday June 25th and 26th. We will be setting up in the back parking lot of the Mapleton Elementary School. We are part of Mapleton Dayz, so this is going to be some awesome public exposure! We are also looking for a banner. John has one he grabbed from last year, but we seem to remember having two. If anyone has or knows where the second banner is, please let me know. Jim KC5UEQ has checked his place, but does not have anything.

There is a couple of us going to meet at the County EOC in Caribou on Friday around 1pm to load tents, lights and other things from the basement of the EOC into the command trailer for transport. Aroostook EMA personnel will be transporting the trailer and the tower out to Mapelton Friday afternoon at some point. If you are available to help please let me know!

A few of us will be meeting at Dunkin Donuts in Caribou about 730am to have coffee before we head out. If you would like to join you are more than welcome.

Anyone who is going to help with setup, we MUST be at the school NO LATER than 9am to beat the parade traffic. Once the parade starts, getting in and out for a couple hours will be impossible, please be on time if you are helping setup. Any members that also belong to the ARES team, please remember setting up the tower is one of the ARES exercises, so do your best to help us out.

We will be set up and running for 2pm. I am hoping that we will see a lot of public traffic, it would be nice to have a few members running radios, and a few to talk to the public.

Saturday evening about 6:30pm we will be having a potluck supper. All are welcome, including spouses/significant others. Please bring a disk, salad or a desert and whatever you may want to drink.

There are a few that plan to stay the night, but if you can come and help make contacts, through the evening and some of the night, that would help those staying overnight to make contacts not have too long of a day.

Tammy will be making Breakfast on Sunday morning, probably around 8ish, all are welcome to join.

We will start tearing down around noon, the more help, the better. Again the ARES team uses the teardown of the tower as an exercise, so if you are not able to help Saturday with the setup, Please try to help teardown on Sunday.

If you have any questions, please reach out and ask. I hope to see a good group of us there this weekend, let’s have some fun and make this a great field day!
