Call to Order: 18:30

Treasurer’s Report:  Insurance payment in December $425.00.  Earned 44 cents interest.  Current Balance 4905.67  Tammy moved to accept, Jim second. Approved unanimous

Secretary’s Report: Posted online.  Sonny moved to accept, Sam second.  Approved.

EMCOM:  ARES took Dec. off for holiday.  On Dec 6-7 took place in Skywarn recognition.  8 members helped out.  7pm – 7pm.  Made 10 contacts at Weather Service, James made four or five at home as well.  Team meetings/training starting Jan 18.  First Aid and Weather nets.  Anyone interested, invited to join.  Continue to do monthly radio checks at hospitals, EOC and weather office.   Team open to any amateur operator.  Can also use non-licensed members.

Field Day:  Jim Cerrato, nothing to report.

Public Information Officer: Dina H..  Got nice group picture at Christmas party.  Has club informational flyer printed out, would like to make copies and distribute to area bulletin boards.   Moved Sam, Second by Bill.

Safety Officer:  Tammy.  Nothing to report


– Need to update board members contact info

– Leaving Executive Board as it currently stands

Old Business: 

– Interference on repeater is ongoing

– Lot of questions at last meeting about club insurance policy.  James has copy now, will take it home and review it.  Will go over it at next month’s meeting and field questions to send to State Farm for answers.

– Repeater lease agreement. Will be between AARA and AKARES (Aroostook ARES).  $1.00 per ten year lease for use of repeater.  Work on wording on lease agreement to present at next meeting.

New Business: 

– service awards (plaques) will be ordered to pass out at March meeting.

– No new applications for members.

– James.  Field Day.  Heard a little both ways.  Re hold at Cerrato Family Ranch (CFR) in 2020, as opposed to other more traditional locations. Heard nothing negative about format of 2019 CFR/Field Day.  Steve mentioned reporting format would need to be worked on using standard Field Day format. 

– Sam moved to hold Field Day as informal gathering at CFR.  Tammy Second.   Those who want to stay for 24 hours are welcome to.  Family time is for those who want it.  Paperwork is there for those who want to log, software is also available to do electronic logging.  Approved unanimous to hold Field Day at CFR.

– Ham testing at Caribou Public Library 6pm Jan. 17.  Must prepay through Anchorage Amateur Radio Club and present receipt at the test.

– AARA has received written offer from Anchorage Amateur Radio Club to be part of their Amateur Radio Testing program.  Dave moved to join Anchorage.  Motion died for lack of second.

– Tabled idea of AARA resuming testing services.

– St. John Valley ARC having meeting on January 11
at North Door Inn at 11am.

February 6th. AARA meeting.

AARA meeting:

The February meeting of AROOSTOOK AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION will be held on Thursday,  February 6th. at 6:30 PM at the Presque Isle, Maine, Library, located at Second and State Streets , Presque Isle.

The meeting program will be provided by Jim, KC5UEQ.  He will be doing a presentation on

map reading and using a compass.
