Call to Order:  18:30

Treasurer’s Report:  Sold some stuff that was donated to club.  James bought ICOM 756 pro via PayPal: $350.  Rest of auction stuff plus dues: $773.  44 cents interest.  5329.79.  Have 30 cash from Chinese auction.  Tammy moved to accept Sony seconded. Passed.

Secretary’s Report: Posted online.  Approved.

EMCOM:  ARES met Oct 19 at County EOC.  Small turnout due to harvest.  Reviewed program that will be shown tonight.  Team put on standby Oct 16 for windstorm.  Didn’t get called out for the larger storm a week later.  Southern Maine got hit hard, N. Maine didn’t.  Team moving forward with national standard training.  Everyone is working toward training objective.  Finally got new antenna and radio location at Houlton Hospital.  Tested the other day, no problems.  They copied our repeater but had wrong tone to key our repeater up. Been trying for 8 years.  Now all 5 hospitals set up, operators all set up in all locations.  Testing radios monthly.  ARES is open to anybody with amateur radio license.  Let Roy now if interested.

Field Day:  It was brought up last month for different options this coming year.  One at Jims, one at Fairgrounds.  We need comments and opinions.  If anyone has ideas, let Jim know.

Public Information Officer:  nothing to report

Safety Officer:  had some ideas about ARES mobile tower.  Suggested she observe safety issues rather than involved directly in tower setup.

Repeater interference:

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

Still need programs for future meetings.  James has couple ideas if nobody comes up with something.  Let James know if you have ideas.

– St. John Valley club co-op with AARA met.  Discussed what co-op would look like.  Two clubs stay separate, co-op would be a “third” club to discuss troubleshooting and problem solving among issues to be shared between clubs.  No dues.  Get together once per quarter.  Will be open to all members of each club.  Meetings at North Lakes Fire Department.  Discussed linking of repeaters.  James attended their club meeting.  They already have a plan to link their repeater with ours.  James to look into what will need:  Controller, link radio and 440 MHz antenna – will look into costs before offering a motion.  We will move our repeater (to NWS station) first then work on linking.

– No new applications for members.

Old Business:

Repeater will be moved to NWS station.  Everything all set, antenna ordered.  Steve and Roy are  going to mount antenna on side mount instead of tower.  This should be better.  Will have backup power.  Still have repeater functioning at Dwayne’s location until the new location at NWS station is operational.

New Business:

– Request from Margot Cerrato looking for $100 from club for gift basket for Christmas party.  Give out tickets to participants, gift basket goes to winner.  Still doing Yankee Swap. Moved $100 donation from club by Sonny, Dave Berry Seconded.  Passed unanimous.

– Christmas party at Cerrato’s on December 14.

– Discussed starting process to amend bylaws and adopt policy to allow price reduction for membership to both clubs.  Currently $20 annual per club.  The SJV club suggests allowing our club members to join theirs for $10 per year and that we reciprocate.  Bill suggested we just leave everything as-is and those who want to join either club, simply pay the $20.  Steve moved to table the idea until next month.  Dave D second.  Passed unanimous.

– Deana suggested promoting Ham radio by raffling a Short-wave receiver or other similar equipment in order to generate interest in the hobby.

– Tim  Horton’s donated the coffee for tonight’s meeting.

Break for refreshments:  19:22.  Tammy gave presentation and video on WBCQ short-wave radio station in Monticello

Bill won the 50/50 but donated winnings back to club for future coffee and donuts.

Meeting Adjourned:  20:03

Respectfully submitted,
