AARA meeting:
The May meeting of AROOSTOOK AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION will be held on Thursday,  May 2nd at 6:30 PM EST at the Presque Isle, Maine, Library, located at Second and State Streets , Presque Isle.

The May meeting program will be given by John Sakowich, KC2UZT from Silver Ridge in Sherman about Leon’s repeater system.  He tells me that that system is turned off now is willing to come up and talk about what happened.

EMCOM/ARES:
The ARES Team met March 16, 2019 at the Houlton State Police Barracks with 10 members attending.  The team had training on ConOps Interoperability in Aroostook County and a tour of the 911 Call Center and Barracks.  Very nice facility.

The Aroostook Emergency Radio Team has been put on standby for helping should County Flooding begin.  We have been taking part in the Flood Watch.

On March 25th, the Aroostook County EMA had a drill on a Flooding Situation.

We had 6 members volunteer to help and everything went great.  They did two drills – morning and evening.  Should we need to help in the EOC, we have a better understanding of our roll.

We continue to do the monthly Ham Radio checks at the hospitals, EOC and weather office in Caribou.  The team re-started the weather net for the winter and welcome all amateur operators to take part.  This is very valuable information for the NWS in Caribou for the Aroostook County Area.

This team is open to any Amateur Radio Operator and we are always looking for new members.

Roy E Woods, KB1WGN,
ARRL Aroostook County Em Coordinator

Spring Social:
The AARA Spring Social will be held on Saturday May 11th this year.   Please put it on your calendar and plan on being there.  It will be held at the Dunntown Church in Wade.  If you need directions, email me.

We will meet by 6:00PM and hopefully eat around 6:30.  It will be a pot luck dinner.   So bring a covered dish to pass.

Don’t forget your place settings and something to drink if you want something other than coffee.

We will also have a Chinese auction so gather up your unused items, magazines, VHS & DVD’s,  electronics, or other items etc and donate them to the cause.

We hope to see you there.
