Call to Order:  18:00

Treasurer’s Report:    no report

Secretary’s Report:  Motion to approve minutes Tammy Sonny Second, passed unanimous

Interference with Repeater:  Sonny says it’s not as bad as it used to be.

Field Day:  Will be at Forestry building at Northern Maine Fairgrounds.  Want to establish a time schedule for operators.  Hope to have EOC tower.  Will have VE Session at Field Day.

EMCOM – Roy.  ARES had meeting/drill Madawaska April 21.  Great turnout, 30 people showed up.  Simulated large ice storm with Madawaska without power for number of weeks.  Command post was at Mad. Fire Station.  Everything went great.  Canadians said they would like to be involved more in the future.  On level one alert right now for potential flooding in Fort Kent.  Missed the heavy rain last night.  Hoping by Sunday the water level will go the other way.  National ARES is reorganizing whole ARES concept nationwide.  Next meeting May 19 at Caribou EOC.  Everyone welcome to attend.

Bike Maine:  Have a couple of vans that need radio operators.  It is a bike ride.  Couple people coming to follow bikers around.  Caribou Limestone, the Valley.  They just need to fill in some spots.  Anyone interested in helping, contact Roy Woods KB1WGN.  September 8 – 15.  If you want to volunteer the whole week, meals and rooms provided, riders traverse all over the County.

Public Information Officer:  no report

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

– Still seeking information on who has club property.  Let Dave KB1EBG or Ivan WK1W.

– Need topics for presentations at meetings.  If anyone can present a program, let Ivan know.

– Linking repeaters to downstate.  John Sakowich working with Leon Botting on the Island Falls repeater to link Presque Isle area to the rest of the State.  Spoke with Andrew Putnam in Houlton who is also working on this.

– Laurel VEC.  We are in direct competition with for testing.  They don’t charge fees.  We are with ARRL and they charge.  Most new licensees go through Laurel so they are out of the loop with the local clubs.  The health of the club is based on growth and Laurel is cutting local clubs out of the loop.  Laurel is a credentialed VEC, like ARRL, so they can get successful candidate a call sign same night.  Our club is not credentialed and has to go through ARRL, who does charge us.  Sam suggested the club could subsidize the $15 test fee for new candidates.

– Last meeting discussion of changing time AARA meeting starts.  Have not received enough information, yet.  So, will leave time as is.  Will send out another poll via email.

Old Business:  none

New Business:  Jim Cerrato has donated ICom 720 HF radio.  Would like to raffle off for benefit of the club.  Tabled until next month, make up some tickets.  Would like to sell at least then tickets for $10.00 each with all money donated to the club.  Will discuss next

Meeting Adjourned:  Tammy moved to adjourn, Roy seconded, all approved.

Adjourned 18:52
